Transit Ringas

Transit Ringas gives commuters in South Africa a way to report safety incidents on public transport as they happen, rather than after the fact to no one in particular — turning something that used to disappear into word of mouth into a record that can actually be acted on.

A rider can file a report from their phone in the moment, tagged automatically with their location, and those individual reports build into a larger data set that can reveal patterns over time — which routes, stops, or times of day carry more risk than others. That's information that's genuinely difficult to gather any other way, and valuable to anyone trying to make a transit system safer.

I built the mobile app, the location-tagging that makes each report meaningful and specific rather than vague and anecdotal, and the secure handling of what is, by its nature, sensitive personal-safety information.
